Chartering

DVA’s ocean freight chartering department was born from a desire to internalise the commodity trading business’ shipping requirements. Shortly thereafter, a gap was identified in the regional chartering and shipbroking market and DVA Chartering was created in order to service the chartering requirements of third parties.

Through close cooperation with Selinger Stevedores, Selinger Ship Agents and Selinger Customs Brokers, the DVA Chartering team is able to offer a fully integrated maritime logistics and consulting service for in-house and third party requirements. One of the fastest growing divisions within the DVA group, the DVA Chartering division currently serves the needs of shipowners and charterers in the dry bulk, tanker, parcel tanker and project cargo markets.

The DVA Chartering department is currently in the midst of developing risk management services through the use of freight derivatives.

Luzar Chartering

Upon the establishment of Luzar Trading in 2009 to manage all of DVA’s agricultural product trading accounts, the Group’s chartering activities were assumed by the chartering department of this new affiliated company. Luzar Trading merchandises grains, oilseeds and metals, and is currently looking to enter the solid fuels space.

  LUZAR CHARTERING
In addition to handling Luzar Trading’s maritime transportation requirements, Luzar Chartering also offers chartering services to third parties, working with cargoes as varied as: Cement, Coal and Petroleum Coke, Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Ores and Products, Fertilizer, Grains & Cereals, Liquid Petroleum Products, Oilseeds and Vegetable Oils.
Ship Owning & Ship Management

DVA has a long history of involvement in the ship owning business, timing entry and exit to coincide with favourable market conditions. The DVA Group’s shipowning subsidiaries, Naviera Caribana and Naviera Pacifico, owned vessels in the handymax bulkcarrier and roro sectors. Although DVA does not currently possess a fleet, it is always open to the possibility of re-entry into an industry which has previously provided great synergies for its commodity trading activities.
